Cape Coral started about 40 years ago on pure speculation by the Rosen brothers. They purchased the property, platted the community and dredged over 400 miles of canals. The Rosen brothers then began a massive campaign where they sold most of the 350,000 residential building sites, the majority to people living in other states & even other countries. "Lies That Came True" is a great book to read on the history of Cape Coral.
